The lecture capture and video management application space has been evolving quickly over the last few years. To help faculty test out new pedagogical methods and easier software-based lecture capture functionality, Academic Technology Solutions is conducting a pilot of Panopto. Panopto has been in use at the Pritzker School of Medicine for two years, and Pritzker faculty use it to record all their class lectures.
We are currently interested in finding faculty throughout all of UChicago with use cases well-suited to testing Panopto. Examples include those interested in:
- lecture capture in the classroom or for academic events such as workshops or special talks;
- using in-video quizzes as assignments;
- live-streaming lectures;
- creating and editing their own video content in Panopto.
The Panopto pilot will run during the Winter and Spring 2019 quarters. Please contact us if you are interested in testing out a use case for Panopto. We are seeking faculty and instructor feedback to help us evaluate this tool for future use, as we re-evaluate our current video management tools and needs for lecture capture.
I’d like to try it for making short videos, and perhaps quiz in videos.
