The UChicago vLab is transitioning to the Microsoft RemoteApp service as of December 30, 2020. RemoteApp is a virtual application solution that allows users to run Windows-based applications regardless of the operating system they are using. With RemoteApp, users can launch virtual applications that will appear on their computer as if they are installed locally, but are in reality running on a remote server.
With the transition to Microsoft RemoteApp, you will need to install and use OneDrive to sync data from your local device to the vLabApps environment. For further information, see the vLab documentation. Please use vLabApps to check your labs for proper functionality.
The vLab is moving away from a full remote desktop model, which takes up too great an amount of system resources. We will be decommissioning the full desktop version on December 30, 2020.
